11:08 am - Well, boys and girls...

sarichan
It's been a really long time here, but there's like... not many people in this group anyway, and I am in Florida and have been for almost a year.

Anyway, I have a recording of Chemset's show at La Femme Qui Rock at Hailey's in Denton, TX, 2/4/2006, if anyone is interested. The original "podcast" is from texasgigs.com, and I split up the 7 complete songs they managed to record into separate mp3s.

You can download it here, from You Send It. If anyone can't get it to work and wants the zip file, just let me know and I'll send it somehow.

Tonite, you can go to Sons of Hermann Hall in Dallas and hear Chemset play with Salim Nourallah and the Polaroids (feat. Steve and Meri). Details here.

Next Saturday, you can to go The Moon in Fort Worth and hear Chemset and Professional Juice, which in case you live under a rock, is Cory's other project. More here.

Also, if you haven't been frequenting the MySpace, there's a new song available for streaming and download. Have fun, kids.

Hmm, no one has updated in here in a while. Well, this Friday, January 13th, Chem Set will be at the Cavern, along with another good local band, Southern Sea. Chemistry Set is headlining, as far as I know. And then Saturday night Chem Set will be in Austin at Jovita's. This is a big Dallas to Austin show along with the great bands I Love Math and Salim Nourallah & The Polaroids (which, fyi, includes Steve & Meri from Chem Set). Below is the sweet poster for the Austin show. If you are in the Austin area and don't have plans then you should definitely check out what sounds like an awesome show.

3:36 pm - hello everyone

sarichan
i'm back in exile in florida, but since i have regular computer use again, i shall try to keep you all up to date as much as i can on the happenings.

anyway, hey, i invite anyone who is going to shows to post about them here, post pictures you've taken, etc. this community is eerily silent. well, not that it's really a big place, but still.

chemset keeps on truckin
tomorrow nite, that's tuesday, steve is playing an acoustic solo show with levi smith from radiant* and john garrett of tweed at club dada in deep ellum, on elm street. it's a show for charity, and there is no cover, but a $5 donation is suggested to benefit Operation Kindness, a no-kill animal shelter.

and they're at sticky fingerz in little rock, ar this weekend, on friday the 29th with the poeboy society and chinese whispers - $5 cover/ 21+ after 8pm
http://www.stickyfingerz.com/StickyFingerz.htm

then the next big show is at the curtain club with coma rally (http://www.comarally.com - tim locke's rock band) on may 5th.

Again, if you're going to shows and whatnot, post something! if only for my amusement.

Hi everyone! There is a Chem Set show coming up, this Friday at The Wreck Room in Fort Worth. Now, normally I don't update this group, but it's a pretty important show. This is the benefit for Cory and the American Cancer Association. For those of you who don't know, Cory is currently being treated for Hodgkins Lymphoma. This show is being put on to help raise money for some of his medical expenses and to raise money for the American Cancer Society. They are going to be playing with some great local bands, including Professional Juice, Cory's project with Thad Burns, and it is obviously for a good cause, so come on out to The Wreck Room in Fort Worth this Friday, April 8th. Oh, and as if I could forget, it's also Cory's birthday, so if you make it out be sure to wish him many happy returns of the day.

sarichan
fine, so sara's been neglecting you lately. so sorry.
a friend of mine took some fantastic photos at the clearview show couple nites ago

http://photobucket.com/albums/v177/stars_smothered/chemset_clearview_march/

big shows coming in april, especially the 2nd at the granada on greenville avenue and the 8th at the wreck room in ftw.

so if you plan on ever coming to a chemset show, make it one or both of those.
and then there's another little d show at andy's on the 23rd, with b minor harmonic (a fantastic band y'all should check out)
check out myspace for more details soon

http://music.myspace.com/thechemistryset

ALSO, and this is VERY important...

Lee Minor 7 has been nominated as best song in the Dallas Observer music awards, so thanks to everyone who voted to have it nominated. They're up against some heavy hitters who all have many nominations in other categories, so even if you support flickerstick or the burden brothers or the vanished, go ahead and vote for them in all their other categories, but give chemset the best song vote!

voting starts with next week's issue, online at http://www.dallasobserver.com or by paper ballot in the hard copy of the observer.

damnit
i just got done formatting a nice pretty table with the next few chemset shows and LJ ate it
so now i take the lazy way out

starting this wednesday, be at the barley house (dallas, henderson ave, exit #2 from i-75 and turn east) for the next few wednesdays. excluding the 24th. cause that's when you should be having your thanksgiving dinner
why a day early?
i'll tell you

after i tell you that you need to be at trees (deep ellum, elm st.) on sunday nite, the 21st.
why?
well, dear, because chemset is playing the edge's local show, hosted by chris ryan, with until they arrive. it's cheap, only $2 if you're over and $5 if you're under.

as far as having thanksgiving dinner on wednesday,
you need to rest up for thanksgiving nite at the aardvark (ftw, w. berry st)
cause chemset is playing
with collin herring and delfi and howitzer
and it's gonna be so much fun
so you have to be there

that's all for now chickens.
in a nutshell
chemset at barley house wednesday nites (/24th)
chemset at trees sun the 21st
chemset at aardvark thanksgiving nite

ps:
rahims shows this week include the 20th at club dada (deep ellum, 21+ only) and the 24th at trees w/ bob schneider.
so you can go there, too.

hahahaha dude i just noticed on our info page here that i had all the band members listed in the interests, except that i got one name wrong:

i had "josh gruver" listed as an interest.
haha oops. i don't think that's how it works.

oh and by the way, the chemset disc was #8 on the top 15 sales list for good records last week. fabulous!

4:18 pm - hey kids

sarichan
chemset has a coupla dates coming up
9th at andy's in denton 17+
14th at club clearview 17+

and then steve solo at the ridglea and vine wine room (6100 camp bowie upstairs from la madeline) on the 16th with tim locke
don't miss that one
http://www.ridgleawineroom.com

------------------------------------------

and in other related music news, delfi's new cd is due out soon, it's just been sent off to be duplicated in the past couple days. for those of you who don't know, delfi is a fantabulous rock band with a rootsy twang. the debut album is produced by our very own steve duncan and recorded at the echo lab in denton, and the record will feature artwork by meredith knoll.
keep up with it at http://www.delfimusic.com

also, rahim's debut cd is available for preorder at his website, http://www.rahimtheband.com/
so preorder a copy of that or pick one up at a show in the near future
(rahim's band includes our own josh hoover and cory helms)
their next show is 11/24 at trees with bob schneider (and bob is expensive... probably a 15-18 dollar cover)

and while we're at it, keep an eye on http://www.salimnourallah.com/ for upcoming shows, and pick up a copy of polaroid if you haven't already. steve and meredith are currently playing in salim's band, which is fantastic and wonderful and all else.

So, tonight is the CD release in Fort Worth at Wreck Room. Chem Set will be sharing the attention with Lauren Fine, who is also releasing her CD tonight, and John Price. A great line-up of Fort Worth talent. There will also be another CD release show tomorrow night in Denton at Andy's. Chem Set will be playing with more Fort Worth talent, Collin Herring. Should be another great show. The CD is $10, and band t-shirts are $10 as well, and I believe come in medium and large, although they might have gotten a wider range of sizes in the last batch they ordered. Hope to see some of you guys out at these CD release shows!

current mood: excited
